WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

W/c 3rd October 2022

What a lovely, busy week we have had in Puffins.  It has involved weaving, offerings to Roman Gods and editing and improving our wonderful Roman myths.

In English we wrote our Roman Myths.  The children followed their plans to write their Myths and then edited and improved them using our brand new editing pencils.  As the year goes we will look at different levels of editing.  The children did brilliantly and improved their Myths very well.

In Maths we have begun our new unit focusing on addition and subtraction.  This week involved adding number bonds within 10 and adding and subtracting 1’s.  The children used a variety of resources including pictures, number lines and concrete resources.  They also thought about missing numbers in number sentences.  Super mathematical thinking this week Puffins.

Our Topic this week has been very practical.  Over the last few weeks we have been learning about Romans and their beliefs.  We have learnt that the Romans left offerings for the different Roman Gods that they believed in.  Our task this week was to make our own weaved baskets.  This was so we had something for our own Roman offerings to go in.  The children worked so hard at making some brilliant baskets, they really persevered with quite a tricky task and I think you can see from below that they turned out brilliantly.

Our Music lesson this week has seen our super chorists becoming even better at their singing.  They even split into a 4 part round to perform their final song. Well done Puffins, some brilliant singing.

Reminders:

-A quick reminder that Thursday 13th next week is our Romans Day.  We are looking forward to having a super day.  I already have my costume sorted!

-If you have not sent me your Parent's Evening reply slip back could you please let me know if there is a time that is suitable for you.

I will be sending your child's time slot home next week.

As usual the children’s spellings are in their homework diaries, as well as being on Spelling shed.

Have a lovely weekend

Stay safe
