WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

W/c 5th September 2022

Welcome to the Puffin Class of 2023!  What an incredibly busy and fun packed week we have had.  It has been wonderful to see all of the new faces settling in, you can hardly tell who is new anymore.  Thank you to the children for making my first week so wonderful.

This week has been filled with nesting in our classroom and making it feel homely by creating lots of Puffin themed art pieces.  The classroom is looking very colourful and welcoming.

English this week involved us thinking about how to make our writing descriptive.  The children created some brilliant packing lists for what they would take if they went on holiday to either: The North Pole, the Jungle or the Moon.  Some very creative things were packed, including gold space suits and a Penguin!

Maths has centred around us playing lots of number games involving place value, times tables and number bonds.

Our Topic this term will have a History focus, the period of time we are studying will be the Romans.  We will be learning all about how the Romans lived, how they affected the Britain we know today and how their lives were both different and the same to ours.

Reminders:

  • PE for the Puffins will take place on a Monday this year.  The children will need to come into school in their PE kit.  Please make sure that they have a coat/jumper with them as we will be both inside and outside depending on our unit of work.
  • Spellings will be handed out on Friday’s and tested on the following Friday.  Children will have a copy of their spellings in their homework diary, they will also be on our class page and on Spelling Shed.  The children have their login details for both this and Times Table Rockstars in the front of their Homework Diaries.
  • Children should bring to school with them on a daily basis: a water bottle, appropriate outdoor clothing and a snack for break.
  • Reading books will be changed when the children have finished them.  We ask that you read with them as much as possible throughout the week and sign their homework diary when you do hear them read.
  • Announcements/messages will be sent out on our class Parent Hub.  Could you please ensure that you have signed up to this if you haven’t already.  Thank you.
