W.C 6.12.21

Wow, what a week that we have had! One more week and two days until we can have a long deserved Christmas break.

First of all, I would like to say a HUGE well done to the Hedgehogs and the Owls for their fantastic performance on Tuesday afternoon. The children performed like real stars and we could not be prouder. We are really thankful to the Repton School team for allowing us to still perform on stage and for filming the performance for everyone to enjoy. It is something that can now be shared and treasured forever.  We are currently in the process of uploading the film privately onto Youtube, where it can be viewed only via a private link. We will aim to get this to you as soon as possible, and we will send it via ParentHub.

As well as all the excitement of Christmas and the performance, we have had a busy week of learning. Look below to find out what we have been learning about.

In our Maths learning, we have been doing some quite tricky additions and subtractions. We learnt that from one picture, we can create 8 different sums; 4 addition and 4 subtraction sums! We looked at part-whole models to understand this and used measuring scales to demonstrate each sum.

Can you find some fact families from these pictures below? Use the colour squares to help you!

or play the game below to find fact families by using number cards!

In our English learning, we have been planning and writing our own set of instructions! We thought about something that we would like to build or make and then thought of the materials, the steps and the top tip that we need for our instructions. Can you remember what your instructions were about? Mr Armishaw thought of some ideas to build a snowman. What materials does he need to build a snowman? What steps does he need to follow?

Celebration Assembly

This week, I awarded a SUCCESS certificate, two leaves and a WRISTBAND. Well done to all those who received an award.

Well done for a fantastic week Hedgehogs, all the staff in Year 1 are so proud of you. I know it is a tiring term, but you have done so well. One more week, and then we are almost there!

Have a lovely weekend!
