Welcome to the Puffins Class of 2022. We have had a brilliant first week in Puffins class. It has been so lovely to see all of the new to Puffins class faces as well as some old ones too. Thank you to them for making my first week of being full time in a rather long time so easy and straight-forward!
This week we got stuck in straight away to our first English unit which was a ‘Loosing Tale’. We learnt all about Sarah and how she was evacuated to the Devon Coast. We looked at the features of a losing tale and thought in more detail about what retrieval and inference are.
Within Maths we have begun our Number and Place value unit. The children have looked at numbers up to 10, 000 and thought about rounding to 10, 100 and 1000.
We have nested into our classroom and made it feel homely by creating lots of Puffin themed art pieces.
We have also begun to think about our Topic for this term which will be WWII. We are going to be learning about all different aspects of this very important historical event, what lead up to the start of the War as well as how it has affected our country since. We are sure this will be a brilliant topic that the children will be able to engage with and really enjoy.
P.E. for Puffins will be on a Thursday. They will need to come in their P.E. kit on this day. Can you please also ensure that your child brings to school a water bottle and appropriate outdoor clothing everyday. Spellings will be handed out on a Friday and a test will happen on the following Friday. A copy of the spelling list will be in your child’s homework diary as well as on spelling shed. We will also hand out Maths and English homework on alternate weeks. This will also be handed out on a Friday and will need to be returned on or before the following Friday.
Thank you very much. I look forward to a fun filled year will all of the Puffins!
