We have had another great week in the Hedgehogs class and we have really challenged ourselves with some adventurous and exciting learning. Look below to find out what we have been up to this week.
In our Maths learning this week, we have been learning all about number bonds this week. We have been focusing on how we can find number bonds to 10 in different ways, such as with our fingers, using ten frames, and with using ladybirds. We are starting to become very fluent with finding number bonds to 10! We also looked at how we can use our number bond knowledge and our 'crocodile' symbols, to compare number bonds. This was very tricky, but we used numicons and ten frames to help add number bonds, and we compared the number bonds successfully.
Here are a few games and activities that you can do at home to help improve your number bonds to 10;

https://www.nctm.org/Classroom-Resources/Illuminations/Interactives/Ten-Frame/ - Ten Frame Game - This is also a good game for making any number bonds!
Here is a game for comparing addition sentences;
In our English learning this week, we have had a very busy week planning, editing and writing our own missing posters about our teddies! The children brought their teddies into school on Monday and planned their character descriptions. They then looked at Mr Armishaw's example of a missing person poster and the children worked in pairs to edit his work and make it a lot better. The children then produced fantastic descriptive posters about their teddies. I was blown away by the use of adjectives and the beautiful neat writing. Can you look at Mr Armishaw's plan and help him think of some adjectives and description for his teddy, Owly the Owl?
In our Topic learning this week, we have been very creative! We recapped the Ancient Egyptian gods and goddesses and we created our own Gods! We created Gods based on Pride and we enjoyed thinking of what animal head they may have, what they would be carrying, and what offerings they would accept from the people who worshiped them. We then learnt all about hieroglyphics and how the Egyptians used this to communicate with other people. We wrote our names in hieroglyphics using a hieroglyphics key. Can you write a message or your name in hieroglyphics?
This week, I awarded a SUCCESS certificate, two leaves and a WRISTBAND. Congratulations to those who have received an award this week.
We are currently in the process of doing Christmas rehearsals and they are going really well. Please make sure to continue to practise any lines at home.
Have a fantastic weekend Hedgehogs!
