ReptonPrimary School

What a fantastic end to the term and the Hedgehogs have adapted and worked so hard during this term. I am proud of each and every one of the children in the class in how they have come into the classroom, got on with learning and how they have continued their fantastic friendships. Here is what we have been doing in our learning this week.

In our English learning this week, we have been looking at innovating the non-chronological report on Cranes. Instead we used our topic learning to innovate the non-chronological report from being about Cranes, to being about Mo Farrah. We have been looking at questions that we can use in our report on Mo Farrah and then thinking about how we can build sentences to answer those questions. Can you tell a grown up any facts you know about Mo Farrah? We also looked at neat presentation this week, focusing on finger spaces, full stops, using our sounds and even capital letters!

In our Maths learning this week, we have been learning about ordinal numbers this week. We looked at the ordinal numbers from 1st all the way to 10th. Can you write down all the ordinal numbers that you know, remembering the two letters that come at the end after each number? I have also attached an ice cream activity about ordinal numbers if your child wishes to have a go at home!

In our topic learning this week, we have taken a break from learning all about the world and this week, as part of our learning on Black History Month, we have been learning about a British, black figure who is important in our society. We looked at Mo Farrah. We learnt all about his life, and he has done a lot in his life! Can you tell a grown up a fact about Mo Farrah? Maybe you can answer the questions below.

Where did he grow up?

What did he compete in?

How many gold medals did he achieve?

What does he do now?

Who is in his family?

We created story maps of his life and we also wrote some information about him in the style of a non-Chronological report! The children produced some fantastic reports and some are displayed in the Computing suite in school. Below is a PowerPoint, and a story map about his life if your child wishes to learn about Mo Farrah again.

Celebration Assembly

This week, I gave out 3 leaves and one RESPECT certificate.

We hope you have a lovely, relaxing half term and we cannot wait to see you refreshed after half term. Stay safe!
