WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

Wednesday

Today is our writing day.

Talk about the story of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar".

What was your favourite part?

Would you like to eat all of those foods?

Why did the caterpillar get a tummy ache?

What was special about the caterpillar at the end of the story?

Activity

We would like you to write the key points of the story.  You can use you story sequencing picture from yesterday to help you if you wish.

To make this easier to manage, break the story up into 4 sentences in the correct order.

Say, then write down each sentence.  You will then have written down the main parts of the story in the correct order.  For example:

One day, the caterpillar came out of an egg.  He ate lots of cake.  Then he had a tummy ache.  In the end, he was a beautiful butterfly.

These sentences are just examples. You may choose to say and write different sentences.

We would not expect the children to spell all the words correctly, but rather they make a phonetic attempt at them.

Some children will manage 1-2 sentences, but others will manage 3-4 or even more.

We have attached some writing paper for you to use, or alternatively you can use your own.
