This week we have begun our topic on People Who Help Us by learning about the people to help us at school. We went on a walk around school to see all the people who help us, like Mr Tague, in his office and Tracy in the kitchen. We placed them on a map of the school and talked and wrote about what they do in school.
In maths we learned how to add by drawing amounts in circles and counting on to find the answer. This is a step up from using concrete apparatus and the children all did really well.
We have painted lots of great portraits this week of people who help us in our school. Come and see them!
This term we will be having a few visitors in to talk to us, like a Police Officer and fireman. Next week we are learning about how we keep our teeth healthy and have a wonderful dentist set up in the role play!
It is also World Book Day on Thursday and the whole week will spent doing some activities in relation to that. The children will visit other adults in school to listen to stories each day.
Just a reminder to come dressed as a book character on Thursday and to bring in a good quality book that you would like to swap too, if you wish.
You will see that we have Spelling Shed set up now for the Robins. The children's log ins are inside their reading records. The more they practise the more points they gain for our class and we could end up on the leaderboard in the hall if we're good!
