WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

Week 1

This week we have been learning about what we celebrate in autumn. We focussed on Bonfire Night and why we celebrate it, what it is and their experiences of it. We watched videos of fireworks and talked about the sounds they made and described how they looked. The children made firework pictures and bonfire pictures using a variety of materials. They look fantastic.

In English this week we wrote cvc words. The children are starting to hear the sounds in these words and write them down. They are doing so well and frequent reading at home will really support them here too.

We enjoyed continuing our learning about 1,2 and 3 in maths. The children understand that 3 is made of 1 and 2 or 1 and 1 and 1. They practised recognising these amounts in dot patterns without needing to count them (subtilising) and played a beanbag throwing game, where they saw how many bags they could get in a hoop and how many out (always totalling 5).

Next week we will continue learning about Autumn and feelings through the story Owl Babies. Have a lovely weekend and a safe bonfire night! 🔥
