We have had a lovely week, this week, learning all about how we can help our environment. We the story 'Dinosaurs and all that Rubbish' and talked about how we can look after our planet. The children wrote a letter to the man in the story who polluted the planet to tell him what he should do eg, 'Do not cut down the trees, it is smelly and dirty' etc.
We learned the importance of recycling and sorted rubbish into categories to be recycled; card and paper, glass, plastic and metal. The children explored magnets by investigating which objects they were attracted to and which they were not.
We also learned how paper is made and recycled. We watched a programme about a paper factory and even made our own paper using old paper, soaked in water, then mixed with cornflour and pressed flat and left to dry in a warm area. It was amazing!
In maths the children demonstrated their skills so far, by recognising and ordering numbers to 10 or 20 and saying one more or one less than a number. We have also been recapping making 6,7 and 8.
On Friday we had a lovely Red Nose Day. The children looked 'super' dressed as superheroes, in their Red Nose Day t-shirts or wearing lots of red. We really enjoyed our Dance Party in the afternoon. We loved watching all their dance moves! (See video below!)
Have a lovely weekend!
