We learned all about caterpillars and butterflies this week. We read the story of ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ and made a story map to show the order of the events in the story and then retold it to each other.
We watched videos showing how a caterpillar changes into a chrysalis and then a butterfly and observed that our own caterpillars have changed into a chrysalis! We put them into a butterfly net ready for their next change when they emerge as butterflies. The tadpoles are beginning to grow small legs so they are now in a tank where they can climb out onto rocks and logs.
This week was also science week where we did lots of experiments; investigating, predicting and finding out. Pictures and details are on our main class page.
In maths we were all really good at sharing. We read the story ‘The Doorbell Rang’ and discussed the concept of sharing and what happens when we share between more or less people and that some amounts can’t be shared equally.
See our Forest School session here for our beautiful symmetrical butterflies!
On Wednesday this week we had a road safety session. The children learnt and recalled their knowledge about how to cross the road safely. We remembered the words "Stop", "Look", "Listen". We then added actions to each word. We also learnt about finding safe places to cross and how to do this safely. Although this was a virtual session, it was interactive and the children could answer questions and join in. Please see below for some photos.
