This week we have had a busy time learning all about sunflowers!
We learned about the famous artist Vincent van Gogh and his 'Sunflowers' painting. We enjoyed trying to be artists, by painting our own sunflower paintings. We also went into the forest to observe plants and draw them really carefully, looking at each part of the plant and helping each other to describe what we see.
In English we wrote the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. We used our story maps to help sequence the story. We tried so hard to sound out our words and many of us are becoming more independent with our writing.
In maths we learned about shape and the properties of 2D shapes as well as their names. We created different pictures using shapes and learned about tangrams too. We also created 3D models using unifix and tried to create the same shapes as Mrs Tarrant by looking really carefully at the way the models are made.
We also planted our own sunflowers and learned about the life cycle of a sunflower. We also watched a sunflower grow in slow motion, which was fascinating!
Have a lovely weekend!
