We have all enjoyed learning about the 3 Little Pigs this week. We made a story map to show what happened in the story and could use it to retell the story.
We thought about the materials the pigs used to build their houses and made our own from the same materials – straw, sticks and bricks. We found the bricks were the strongest. We learned how bricks were made in a factory and by hand too.
We all enjoyed making sandwiches this week too, using either cheese or ham for our fillings. They were delicious!
In maths we learned about the composition of 4 and 5 and what numbers were equal to 4 and 5. We could talk about all the different amounts we could see within each number such as 1,2 and 2 in 5 etc. We then found the numerals to represent these amounts.
We had a great forest schools sessions where we hunted for homes for the living creatures in the forest and then made our own homes using sticks, bricks, leaves and other things in the forest.
Our highlight of the week was our walk around Repton to look at houses of course! The children were really interested and did well to walk for so long. They can now talk about the different types of houses – such as detached and terraced and can say what sort of house they live in too!
All the children now know which part they have in our Nativity – which will take place on Tuesday 14th December. More info to come! You will all be invited to watch of course. Please see the letter in your school bags, telling you which part they are playing and what costumes they will need as well as words to learn. Many thanks for your support with this. Any problems, please let us know.
See you next week!
