This week we have learned about 'Where does food grow?' We've looked at different fruits and vegetables and where they grow; either a tree, bush or in the ground. We then used the vegetables to make soup. We carefully peeled and chopped them and made yummy soup with them! We then enjoyed eating it. It was a deliciously, healthy snack.
We made a text map about how to make soup and used this to write instructions to make soup. The children chose pictures of the process and put them in the right order before writing instructions in sentences.
In maths we looked at sharing and halving. The children shared an amount of fruit between Bunny and Bear (who live in the book corner), ensuring each had the same amount to make it fair. They understood that this meant halving. We also discovered that some numbers can't be shared fairly and therefore can't be halved. Some children began to understand that we have odd and even numbers and could see the pattern in a number line.
We had a lovely forest school session on Thursday in the sunshine! Please see the section on the class page.
A reminder that next week we have a dress down day to raise money for the PTA. Children can wear non-uniform clothes and bring £1. Friday is INSET day, so school is closed to pupils.
See you next week!
