As usual we have had a great week in Robins class.
We have been reading the story "The Gingerbread Man" this week. The children really enjoyed joining in with the repeating phrases. We made a class story map to help us retell the story. The children are starting to have a good understanding of how story maps work now as we have done several of them for our stories over the past few weeks. For our writing task this week, we made lists of rhyming words. The children do not always find it easy to make a rhyme but all tried really hard. If you would like to play a fun game to practise this activity, there are two games on phonics play that help with this skill; Cake Bake and Hickory Dickory Dock. I have added the links below.
Earlier on in the week, the children all made their own gingerbread man or lady. They did a great job and they looked delicious. I hope they tasted as good as they looked. The children all enjoyed this activity.
In Maths, we practised our addition skills by putting buttons on two gingerbread men and counting how many altogether. We used the language of addition to say our number sentences.
On Wednesday, we had a day of "balanceability". Two sports coaches arrived with balance bikes. The class was split into two halves for the day and the children enjoyed practising riding the bikes. They did fun activities and learned skills such as gliding, weaving in and out and of course stopping! Please see the photos below of the children engaged with this activity.
On Friday it was our Christmas jumper and Christmas dinner day. The children all looked fabulous in their festive jumpers and really enjoyed their dinner. Thank you for your support with this. Please see the photo below.
On Friday, we had an impromptu visit from PC Bob and PCSO Finn. The children went onto the playground to see them. The police officers chatted to the children and showed them the police car with the flashing lights. The children enjoyed this!
All in all we have had such a busy week. Next week, we have our party on Monday, so please remember to wear party clothes. We will also be recording our Christmas concert and that will be available for you to view shortly afterwards. Other than this we will have a great week doing lots of Christmas themed activities.
