We have had another great week!
We are now starting to get a little Christmassy! In English we have talked about our role in our Chrsitmas Nativity play. We then wrote about it. The children loved writing about themselves. The writing is really coming on now and then children are segmenting the sounds in words and are writing them with more confidence.
In Maths, we partitioned 5 in different ways. We found different patterns of numbers within 5. For example: 2,2,1 - 3,2 - 1,1,1,1,1 - 2,1,1,1 etc. The children enjoyed exploring the different ways to make 5. We used counters and a whole-part model to do this.
Our classroom looks great at the moment with our Christmas tree and tinsel everywhere. The children are really enjoying role playing Santa and the Elves.
We have been having our final concert rehearsals this week too. We will have our final dress rehearsal on Monday, in full costume and then we will be ready to record it on Tuesday. I hope you have enjoyed listening to your child singing the songs at home.
Next week we will continue with our Christmas themed activties. It is our Christmas jumper day on Wednesday. The children can come to school wearing their normal school uniform with their Christmas jumper on top. (No PE kit on this day). It is also our Christmas dinner day on Wednesday.
On Thursday it is our Christmas party. We are very much looking forward to that. Thank you for your £1 donations towards food. The children can wear their party clothes all day, we only ask that they are suitable for outdoor play and reception style activties too as we will have a normal morning.
Next week we will also be joining in with our first celebration assembly. This will be done virtually across the school, using MS Teams. We will record it for the parents to see. The link is always placed on parent hub. We will choose someone to receive our special awards. We usually chose one certificate and one leaf. The certificate is for great learning behaviour linked to our school values "respect", "pride" and "success". The leaf is for showing fabulous behaviour such as trying their best, being kind, listening carefully or helping others etc.
Have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing all of our Robins again next week.
