It has been great welcoming the children back this week and hearing all about their half-term fun! This week our learning has included publishing, estimating, quizzes and fireworks!
At the start of the week, children were tasked with editing and improving their diary entries. They focused on the writing toolkit features and worked hard to include thoughts, feelings and opinions in their writing. They then ‘published’ their writing ready for it to be displayed in the classroom. Towards the end of the week, children started learning about our new writing unit, ‘Instruction texts’. Children carefully followed a set of instructions to create a piece of bonfire artwork!
In Maths this week, we concluded our addition and subtraction unit. Children learnt how to estimate answers and check their strategies using the inverse operation. We will move on to ‘Multiplication and Division’ next week.
Before the holidays, children took on the challenge of building biscuit Stonehenge! This week, we discovered more about the prehistoric monument. Children used the knowledge they had acquired to create their own Stonehenge Quiz!
Marble Reward -
Hopefully the children enjoyed their film and popcorn this afternoon! It was well deserved. They are now working towards their new marble reward which they chose to be a Teddy Bear's picnic!
Children have been given some English homework today. They have been given a selection of photos. For each photo, the children must write at least 3 expanded noun phrases. The task has been explained in class, but if you have any questions about this, please do get in touch. This piece of homework is due on Friday 12th November 2021. Children should practice their spellings and times tables and read at home alongside this.
