Our Learning
We have had another busy week in Seals class! It has involved family trees, exchanging and buzzers and motors!
English –
This week, we have continued our work on biographies. Ready to write their own next week, children have spent time researching and planning a biography about King Henry VIII. Children have also been taught some aspects of grammar, including how to use possessive apostrophes and how to use commas for lists.
Maths –
The children have now moved on to addition and subtraction. The focus this week has been on addition. It has involved adding two or more 4-digit numbers with no exchange, one exchange or more than one exchange. The children have worked hard super hard this week and have put their problem-solving skills to the test!
History –
This week, the children created a House of Tudor family tree to help them gain a better understanding of the Tudor dynasty. Children were given clues about different members of the Tudor family which they had to use to work out where each family member belonged on the family tree! Today, the children learnt about an artist called Hans Holbein, who is famous for his Tudor portraits. They discovered why his work was so popular and created their own Tudor portraits in the style of Hans Holbein!
Science -
This week we have continued our work on electricity. This week it has involved exploring buzzers and motors. The children created a variety of circuits and then used scientific symbols to draw their circuits in their books.
Homework –
Children have been given some English homework this week which relates to the learning we have been doing in school. The task has been explained in class, but if you have any questions about this, please do get in touch. This piece of homework is due on Monday 10th October. Children should practice their spellings and times tables and read at home alongside this.
