Our Learning
We have had yet another brilliant week in Seals class and we cannot believe how quickly this half term has gone by!
English –
This week, the children have been writing non-chronological reports about Iceland. After writing, the children edited their work, trying really hard to include as many of our toolkit features as possible! Once they had finished improving their work, children attempted a double page spread to showcase their writing in neat form. A well-presented double page spread is very difficult to achieve but the Seals managed to do a tremendous job – We are so proud of the work they have produced this week!
Maths –
This week, we started to think about our upcoming unit of work which is Money. We started by exploring coins and notes, considering their values and ordering them from smallest to largest. We then recapped converting pounds and pence and began to show amounts of money as pounds and pence. We look forward to learning more about Money when we return after the Easter holidays.
To finish the week, we enjoyed some Easter themed Maths activities! This included multiplication mosaics and a mystery maths problem-solving activity.
Science –
We have continued to learn about electrical circuits in Science this week. Children were provided with images of simple series circuits and they had to predict whether or not a bulb would light in the circuit based on whether it was complete or incomplete. Children were able to test their predictions by creating the circuits themselves!
Homework –
Children’s homework for the Easter break is to practice their times tables! Some children have taken sheets home with them to complete but others may prefer to access online games/resources. Useful online links, including practice for the MTC, are shared on the ‘times tables’ tab in the key information section on our class page. Children should practice their spellings and read at home alongside this.
