WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

Week beginning 06.06.22

Our Learning

We have had a very busy first week back in Seals class! It has involved egg shells, digital clocks and questionnaires!

English –

This week we introduced our new topic, explanation texts. To begin with we discussed the purpose of an explanation text and looked at a variety of examples. We then studied the features of an explanation text and identified these features within the examples. Towards the end of the week, we conducted research to help us plan for our hot write next week!

Maths –

This week, children have been converting analogue time to digital time using both a 12-hour and 24-hour clock! We have now reached the end of our unit of work on time. Next week, we will be taking a break in our Maths work to focus on times tables in preparation for the Multiplication Tables Check which will take place during the week beginning 20th June.

Science –

This week, we carried out a very egg-citing investigation! We placed eggs into 4 different liquids (Vinegar, cola, orange juice and water) and observed changes to the shell over time. The changes were quite disgusting! We conducted this experiment to explore how different foods and drinks can damage our teeth and cause tooth decay. Throughout the rest of the week, we have been interpreting and creating our own food chains and food webs!

DT –

We started our ‘Pizza Project’ this week. This has involved looking at the Eatwell Plate and planning a healthy meal, investigating and evaluating existing pizza products and creating a questionnaire to gather the views of others. Children are going to use the results of their questionnaire to inform their pizza designs next week!

Homework –

Children have been given some Maths homework today which relates to the learning we have been doing in school. The task has been explained in class, but if you have any questions about this, please do get in touch. This piece of homework is due on Friday 17th June. Children should practice their spellings and read at home alongside this.
