Our Learning
We have had a fantastic week in Seals class! It has involved fact families, interesting facts and investigations!
English –
This week, the children completed their instructions text ‘Hot Write’. They have spent the week planning, writing and editing their work and are now ready to publish their final piece of writing next week!
Maths –
We have now started the Multiplication and Division unit of work. This week it has involved recognising multiples of 3, multiplying and dividing by 6, multiplying and dividing by 9 and looking at links between the 3,6 and 9 times tables. Our multiplication and division unit of work will continue next week. Please encourage your child to practice their multiplication tables as much as possible at home!
History –
This week, the children conducted research into an aspect of Tudor life and society. The research areas were: Tudor homes, Tudor food, Tudor clothes and Tudor entertainment. Each group created a poster to showcase what they had learned from their research and presented this to the rest of the class. It is safe to say the children were fascinated by some of the facts they discovered!
Science –
This week, the children investigated which materials are conductors. After carrying out an experiment where they tested a variety of objects in a circuit, they concluded that metal is an electrical conductor. The children loved being hands on and enjoyed reaching their own scientific conclusion! We have now come to the end of our Electricity unit of work in Science.
Homework –
Children have been given some Maths homework this week which relates to the learning we have been doing in school. The task has been explained in class, but if you have any questions about this, please do get in touch. This piece of homework is due on Monday 14th November. Children should practice their spellings and times tables and read at home alongside this.
