Our Learning
We have had another fabulous week in Seals class. It has involved rounding, feature finding and planning a day trip!
English –
Our new unit in English is adventure stories. This week, our focus has been comprehending the model text. We have created text maps to familiarise ourselves with the text, used evidence to explore the main character’s thoughts and feelings, analysed the features of an adventure story and written ‘the more, the more’ sentences.
Maths –
In Maths this week, we have finished our decimals unit of work. This has involved rounding decimals to the nearest whole, writing halves and quarters as decimals and fractions, and practicing our times tables using the MTC ‘try it out’.
Science –
Having finished our sound unit of work, we are now preparing to compete a DT project which is to make a junk musical instrument. Today, we conducted research to inform our planning. We have investigated existing products and conducted surveys and questionnaires to see which product is likely to be the most appealing to others. We look forward to planning and making our musical instruments soon!
Homework –
Children have been given a piece of Maths homework to complete which relates to the learning we have been doing in school. This piece of homework is due on Monday 15th May 2023. Children have been asked to practice their spellings and times tables and read at home alongside this.
