Our Learning
I hope the Seals have enjoyed their first week in Year 4! It has been lovely welcoming the children back to school and I am looking forward to a fun and exciting year ahead! Although it is only week one, we have already been super busy!
English –
At the beginning of the week, the children showed off their creative writing skills by continuing an unfinished story. They had some lovely ideas and I cannot wait to see what they produce next! For the rest of the week, we have been working on various aspects of grammar. This has included using a dictionary, forming accurate sentences and developing our proof-reading skills.
Maths –
This week, we started our first unit of work which is place value. This has involved representing numbers to 1,000, partitioning numbers to 1,000, showing numbers on a number line and counting in thousands. The children have thoroughly enjoyed our practical maths sessions this week!
History –
This week, we introduced the children to our History topic which is all about The Tudors! To start off with, the children thought of some questions that they would like to find the answer to over the course of our History unit. We then spent a lesson looking at evidence and how this tells us about the past. This involved a ‘rubbish bin activity’ where the children had to act as detectives, piecing together clues about a person and their life!
No homework or spellings have been handed this week. These will be given to the children on Monday.
Have a fabulous weekend and I look forward to seeing you all again on Monday!
