We have had another busy week in Seals. It has involved investigating, decimals and adventure stories.
In English this week we started our new unit of adventure stories. We have studied our model text and thought about some different sentence structures that would add detail to our written work. We have also written diary entries from the point of view of the main character in our story. We thought carefully about his emotions and feelings, and how we can include them in our diary entry.
Both year groups have continued their work involving fractions and decimals. Year 4 have worked on dividing 1-digit and 2-digit numbers by 10 and 100. Towards the end of the week, we created our own game to help us consolidate our learning. Year 5 have looked at fractions as decimals, understanding thousandths and thousandths as decimals. They have made a fantastic start to this aspect of Maths.
In Science this week we planned and carried out another investigation. We investigated whether the temperature of water affects the speed of dissolving. Once we had completed the investigation we analysed our results to form a conclusion.
Children have now brought home the sunflowers that they planted on Science day. Children have a diary to track the growth of their sunflower and we would love to see some photos of these as they grow more and more!
Have a lovely weekend,
The Seals Team
