WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

Week beginning 10.06.24

Our learning

We have whizzed through yet another week of this crazily busy half term! It has involved persuasive devices, healthy eating and even a bit of dancing!

English -

The Seals have written their persuasive letters this week. A lot of time and effort has gone into perfecting their letters, ensuring they have used formal language and made convincing points of persuasion to win over the recipient of their letter. The children have focused their persuasive letters on a range of topics including banning homework and uniforms, getting a new pet and filling in potholes!

DT -

Before making our buzzer game, we wrote a selection of 'radio adverts' which could be used to promote our product and encourage customers to buy it. After carefully considering what the selling points of our product are, we got straight into making our games! The first thing we had to do was create a net which could be used to form the base of our game. After creating the base, we moved on to making the backdrop, before decorating both the base and backdrop. The children have all chosen interesting themes/designs and I look forward to seeing what their games look like after adding some finishing touches next week! Once the base and backdrop are decorated, the children will be able to begin constructing their wire and electrical circuits - Exciting!

PSHE -

In PSHE this week, we have celebrated 'Healthy Eating Week'. We discussed the five focuses of this year (Get at least 5 a day, Stay hydrated, Move more, Focus on fibre, Reduce food waste), reflecting on our own lifestyle and considering which of these we could improve to live a healthier lifestyle. Our main activity of the lesson was to create a three course menu for a restaurant which contained a variation of healthy meals. We had to justify how they are healthy, using our knowledge of a balanced diet and thinking about the 5 themes of this year's Healthy Eating Week.
