Our Learning
We have had such a wonderful week in Seals class. It has involved divorces, differences and problem-solving!
English –
The Seals have completed their second hot write this week! They have written biographies about King Henry VIII. They have worked superbly hard and I cannot wait to display their biographies on our writing wall next week!
Maths –
This week, we have moved on to subtraction. This has involved subtracting with no exchange, subtracting with one exchange, subtracting with more than one exchange and using efficient methods for subtraction. Today, the children answered a range of word problems, putting their addition and subtraction knowledge to the test!
History –
Following our research in English, we have spent this week discussing the infamous King Henry VIII. At the beginning of the week, the children discovered the fates of each of Henry’s wives. They created a ‘Hall of Fame’ to show what they had learnt about each of the six marriages. Towards the end of the week, we discussed what Henry was like as a king and focused on key events which happened during his reign. It is safe to say that the children were left very shocked by the behaviours of King Henry!
Science –
We have continued our electricity work this week, focusing on complete and incomplete circuits. After learning what makes a circuit ‘complete’, children had to predict whether a range of electrical circuits would work or not. They were then given time to test each circuit to see if their predictions were correct!
Homework –
Children have been given some Maths homework this week which relates to the learning we have been doing in school. The task has been explained in class, but if you have any questions about this, please do get in touch. This piece of homework is due on Monday 17th October. Children should practice their spellings and times tables and read at home alongside this.
