This week has been superb and I cannot believe that we only have one week left until half term - Time does fly when you're having fun!
In English, we have continued to look at newspaper reports and focused on understanding the pattern of the report. Once we understood the pattern of the report and looked at evidence in our model text, we began to plan our very own newspaper report based on the story Lights on Cotton Rock. Following so much enthusiasm in Seals class for drama, we once again did some acting. This time children were pretended to be investigators/reporters, interviewing characters from the book so that we had information and quotes to use in our report. I cannot wait to see what children produce when they write their newspaper reports next week!
In Maths this week we have continued to look at formal and efficient methods for addition and subtraction. Children have taken their work even further this week and also answered multi-step word problems! We are really proud of the children's hard work and perseverance during such challenging Maths lessons and the outcomes are incredible.
I was blown away by the quality of the artwork that has been produced over the last couple of weeks. Children worked extremely hard on these and now they are proudly displayed in our classroom and around school!
This week we continued our Earth and Space topic and looked at the movements of Earth and the Sun. Children found out all about why we have day and night, years and the seasons. After learning about this they then drew their own diagrams and wrote sentences to explain these!
Yet again we have had a week full of celebration and I am super pleased with everyone who has received a reward this week - Keep it up Seals!
Please remind children that they should be reading at home and going onto Spelling Shed and TTRS! Doing this will help them to earn more rewards and prizes!
It has been a pleasure to speak with lots of parents this week and I look forward to chatting with more of you next week :)
Have a lovely weekend and we will see you on Monday.
