WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

Week beginning 13.02.23

Our Learning

I cannot believe we have reached the end of the term already!

We have had a wonderful last week of term. It has involved problem solving tasks, hot writes and natural wonders!

English –

This week, the children have completed their ‘Hot Write’. Writing a newspaper report can be tricky but the children have worked extremely hard – writing, reviewing and editing their work to produce fantastic final reports! The children have written their newspaper reports in neat and these are now proudly displayed on our writing wall.

Maths –

We have completed our length and perimeter work this week. At the beginning of the week we did some whole-class problem solving. We then spent some time focusing on calculating the perimeter of regular and irregular polygons. Today, children enjoyed more problem-solving with a much loved ‘Mystery Maths’ challenge!

Geography –

At the beginning of the week, we studied a selection of Iceland’s natural phenomena including the Northern Lights and Diamond Beach. We then learned about the natural wonders of the famous ‘Golden Circle’ tour of Iceland, including Gulfoss waterfall, Thingvellir National Park and the Geysirs. Children were tasked with either producing a leaflet for the Golden Circle tour or writing a diary entry from the perspective of a tourist who has spent the day on the tour! It is safe to say that the children are truly fascinated by what Iceland has to offer!

Homework –

Children have not been given a sheet to complete as homework this week. Instead, we are asking that all children practice their times tables, read at home and practice their spellings over the half term!
