We have had a fabulous week in Seals class! It has involved volcanic eruptions, calculating quantities and much more!
This week, children have completed their ‘Hot Write’. They were tasked with writing a newspaper report about a volcanic eruption in Iceland. After writing, we edited and improved our work. Formal writing can be tricky to do but the children have worked really hard and produced some great reports!
We have now reached the end of our fractions work. This week we have been subtracting from whole amounts, finding fractions of a quantity and calculating quantities. Again, I am really impressed by the way in which the children have persevered and challenged themselves during our fractions unit! After half-term, we will be moving on to decimals.
During our last few Geography lessons, we have been learning all about the ‘natural wonders’ of Iceland! This has included waterfalls, geysirs, a diamond beach, the Northern Lights and much more! The children have enjoyed exploring these natural wonders and are truly fascinated by what Iceland has to offer. We look forward to learning more about this incredible country after half-term!
Children have been given a book review and a times tables sheet to complete over the half term holiday. We have chosen this as their half term homework as it is really important that children learn their times tables and that they continue to read and enjoy reading! The tasks have been explained in class but if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Miss Bailey via the class email. These pieces of work are due on Friday 4th March 2022.
