The children looked bonkers but fabulous in their ‘crazy clothes’ today! Thank you for your great efforts and kind donations for such a great cause, this is really appreciated. We hope the children had a wonderful day!
At the beginning of the week, we completed our hot write’. This was a discussion text about whether or not classroom pets should be allowed and I must say, the children had some very convincing arguments! After writing, the children spent some time editing and improving their work. These wonderful pieces of writing are now displayed on our writing wall in the classroom!
In Maths this week we have been dividing 1 and 2 digits by 100, making a whole and writing decimals. Today, the children created their own game of decimals dominoes for others to try. They had so much fun making and playing each other’s games!
Science Week –
This week, we have been celebrating British Science Week! We have competed a variety of activities which explore the theme ‘Growth’. At the start of the week, the children were tasked with creating a poster to explain what ‘Growth’ meant to them. The children had a fantastic selection of ideas and their posters demonstrate this well! Our first activity was to design an animal that could survive on Mars. Children had to think really carefully about the conditions on Mars and ensure their creature was fit for this environment. We had some weird yet wonderful creations! Later in the week, we investigated growth and age. Children calculated their age in months and measured their height or hand size to explore whether or not size can determine a person’s age. The children thoroughly enjoyed this investigation!
Towards the end of the week, children tried to grow their own rainbow using only kitchen roll, pens and water!
Children have been given some Maths homework today which relates to the learning we have been doing in school. The task has been explained in class, but if you have any questions about this, please do get in touch. This piece of homework is due on Friday 25th March. Children should practice their spellings and times tables and read at home alongside this.
