Our Learning
We have had another great week in Seals class. It has involved magic, atlases and exchanges!
English –
This week, we have been preparing to write our own fantasy story. This has included describing a fantasy world, describing the emotions and reactions of a character, boxing up the model text and creating a double page spread plan. The children have excellent ideas so I look forward to reading their final piece of work next week!
Maths –
We have continued our multiplication and division work this week. It has involved dividing 2 digit numbers by a 1 digit number and dividing 3 digit numbers by a 1 digit number. The children have been using a written method to help them divide and have even had to exchange and work out the remainder! Next week we will conclude our multiplication and division work.
Geography –
During our first topic lesson this week, we had to locate Iceland on a world map. Once we had located Iceland, we had to write a paragraph about the location of Iceland using our knowledge of continents, oceans, compass directions and latitude/longitude coordinates. Towards the end of the week, we looked at the physical features of Iceland and how these compare to the physical features of the UK.
Homework –
Children have been given some Maths homework this week which relates to the learning we have been doing in school. The task has been explained in class, but if you have any questions about this, please do get in touch. This piece of homework is due on Monday 23rd January 2023. Children should practice their spellings and times tables and read at home alongside this.
