Our Learning
What a wonderful first week back we have had! It has involved syllables, decimals and a lot of noise!
English –
In English, we are focusing on Poetry. This week, we have been learning about Haiku poems. The children have read Haiku poems, analysed the features of a Haiku poem and even planned and written their own Haiku’s about Spring!
Maths –
We have continued our decimals unit of work this week which has included representing tenths on a place value chart, dividing a 1-digit number by 10 and dividing a 2-digit number by 10. Today, the children took part in their first ‘Try it out’ session using the Government format for the upcoming MTC.
Science –
Our Science focus this half term is sound. At the beginning of the week, we identified how sounds are made and how sounds reach the ear. Today, we investigated volume by exploring instruments and the different sounds they make. We discovered how to make a loud sound and how to make a quiet sound.
Homework –
Children have been given a piece of Maths homework to complete which relates to the learning we have been doing in school. This piece of homework is due on Monday 24th April 2023. Children have been asked to practice their spellings and times tables and read at home alongside this.
