Our Learning
We have had a super busy week in Seals class. It has involved a battle, Roman numerals, miracles and much more!
English –
In English this week, children have been writing their first ‘Hot Write’ of the year. After analysing our model text last week, children have planned and written their own diary entries. They have written from the perspective of a soldier or Henry Tudor after the events of the Battle of Bosworth field. The children have spent some time editing and improving their work and will publish their final diary entry next week, which will be displayed on our classroom writing wall!
Maths –
We have continued our work on place value this week. It has involved comparing and ordering numbers to 10,000 and reading and writing Roman numerals. Today, children enjoyed playing a variety of games to help them with their times tables knowledge.
Remembering Queen Elizabeth II –
This week, the children produced a piece of artwork in memory of Her Majesty the Queen. They cut out pieces from recent newspaper articles to create a collage of the Queen. On top of their collage, they placed an outline of the Queen’s head which contains words and phrases they would use to describe the Queen.
Homework –
Children have been given some English homework this week which relates to the learning we have been doing in school. The task has been explained in class, but if you have any questions about this, please do get in touch. This piece of homework is due on Monday 26th September. Children should practice their spellings and times tables and read at home alongside this.
