We have had an incredible final week of half-term in Seals class. I am so impressed with the children's continued efforts this week and I'm so glad that they have enjoyed their first half-term back at school!
During English this week we wrote our own newspaper reports about a missing girl based on our book 'Lights on Cotton Rock'. Although this was tricky, children persevered and created some lovely work for our writing wall! In our reading lessons we have continued to look at
In Maths this week the Year 4's continued to develop their addition and subtraction knowledge. They have looked at inverse operations and challenged themselves by answering word problems. In Year 5, children have started a new topic, looking at line graphs. Children have spent some time reading line graphs, drawing line graphs and using the data on the graph to answer questions.
As part of our 'Space Race' History topic this week we learned all about Tim Peake. Children gathered lots of information about Tim Peake and used this knowledge to complete a range of tasks. Some children wrote a paragraph about Tim Peake, others wrote him a letter and some children created their very own Tim Peake quiz!
Once again, we have had a plethora of celebrations in Seals class this week which is no surprise! Children exceeded their half term marble goal which means that they will be rewarded with a film and popcorn afternoon after half-term - Well done Seals! We were also top of the Spelling Shed and Times Tables Rockstars leagues this week which is a huge achievement - Keep it up :)
Please find some time to read at home and go onto Spelling Shed and TTRS over half term, but also ensure that children have a well-deserved break!
Thanks again for taking the time to speak to me on the phone for parents' evening, it was lovely to finally get to chat with you all!
We hope that you have a lovely and relaxing half-term. Stay safe and we will see you on Monday 2nd November!
