Another week has flown by for us in Seals class! Our week has involved landmarks, electricity and ‘Dazzling Dubai’!
We started our new writing unit this week which is ‘non-chronological reports’. At the beginning of the week, children read a variety of non-chronological reports to familiarise themselves with the structure of the text. We then introduced our model text, ‘Dazzling Dubai’, and children used text mapping to help them comprehend it. Towards the end of the week, we have been identifying features of a non-chronological report, including organisational features and language features used.
We have continued with our decimals work in Maths this week which has included comparing decimals, ordering decimals and rounding decimals! Today, the children spent some time practicing their times tables.
We have continued to learn about the fascinating country of Iceland this week. At the start of the week children studied famous landmarks in the capital city, Reykjavik, and later in the week we discussed why Iceland is considered to be a ‘green’ country. The children are still so enthusiastic about this topic which is a joy to see!
Children have been given some English homework today which relates to the learning we have been doing in school. The task has been explained in class, but if you have any questions about this, please do get in touch. This piece of homework is due on Friday 1st April. Children should practice their spellings and times tables and read at home alongside this.
