What a super week we have had in Seals class!
This week we have continued to look at our book 'Lights on Cotton Rock'. We are so happy that children are engaging with this book and glad that this is also the focus for our Topic and Science lessons! We focused on setting descriptions this week and towards the end of the week children were challenged to describe a setting from Lights on Cotton Rock. Seals class produced some incredibly powerful descriptive sentences, and even included similes and personification!!
During Maths this week we have trialed a new system in which we have split the Year 4's and the Year 5's. Children have responded positively to this change and we hope that the split will allow us to really stretch and challenge children in each year group! Well done to all of the Year 4/5 children for being so sensible and adaptable whilst moving classrooms for Maths this week (especially during these difficult times!).
We had a fantastic PE lesson this week - So good that it earned the class a marble in the bag! We focused on sprinting and running techniques and I was amazed by the efforts of all children. Due to the wet weather we could not use the field and had to complete this lesson in the hall. As you can imagine, this was a difficult lesson to teach indoors but children handled it extremely well and gave some superb peer feedback!!
Last week we read the book 'Oh! The places you'll go' and thought about our dreams and aspirations for the future. Children considered places they would like to go to, people they would like to meet and things that they would like to buy. They also wrote about their dream jobs and what they will need to do to reach this goal. Following this, children created water colour dream jars which are now proudly displayed in our classroom (thanks to Mrs Allsopp) and they look beautiful!
We had another lovely celebration assembly this week and celebrated some achievements of our own in Seals class, so congratulations to all who received certificates, leaves, housepoints and prizes this week!
Please be reminded to read at home and access Spelling Shed and TT Rockstars.
Have a lovely weekend and we will see you again for another fabulous week on Monday!
