Our Learning
We have had another fantastic week in Seals class. It has involved carnival dancing, chocolate and saxophones!
English –
This week, the children completed their hot writes. They have created fantastic imaginary worlds and made their writing suspenseful and exciting! We will be publishing our stories for our writing wall display next week.
Maths –
We have concluded our multiplication and division work this week. It has involved correspondence problems, efficient multiplication and opportunities to revise our times tables!
Geography –
In Geography this week, we looked at grid references and their purpose. Using a map of Iceland, we used grid references to find various features and locations. Some of us then created our own grid reference quiz questions for a partner to answer!
Science –
Our current Science unit of work is ‘Magnificent Materials’. So far, we have looked at the 3 states of matter and their properties. We then sorted a range of items based on whether they were a solid, liquid or a gas. This week, our focus has been on changes of state. We have experimented how heating and cooling can make something change from a solid to a liquid or a liquid to a solid.
Homework –
Children have been given some English homework this week which relates to the learning we have been doing in school. The task has been explained in class, but if you have any questions about this, please do get in touch. This piece of homework is due on Monday 30th January 2023. Children should practice their spellings and times tables and read at home alongside this.
