We have had another very busy week in Seals class. Children are continuing to wow me with their positive attitudes and hard work!
During English this week we started our new book called 'The Christmas Truce' which is a wonderful poem by Hilary Robinson. At the beginning of the week we read the story and thought carefully about what this book is based on. We analysed the images in the book, looked at relative pronouns and clauses, and identified rhyming couplets and repetition within the book. Towards the end of the week, we enjoyed some drama where children reenacted the events of the book, highlighting how the characters would have felt during that period of time.
In Maths this week Year 4 have carried on looking in more detail at multiplication. Year 4's began the week dividing by 100 and created their own game of dominoes around this for a partner to try. Later in the week, children began to look at multiplying and dividing by 3, 6 and 9!
In Year 5, children have also looked at multiplication and division, with a focus on multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000!
We have started our new unit of artwork this week which is all about portraits! This week we discussed what a portrait is and why they exist, and also looked at some famous portraits. Children were then given the task to create a simple portrait of themselves without any help and the results were better than expected!
Have a lovely weekend and take care.
