Our Learning
We have had another busy week in Seals class. It has involved global links, country comparisons and fun at the fair!
English -
Our English lessons this week have been dedicated to writing and editing the stories we planned last week. We have worked hard to include description and suspense to make our story more interesting for the reader. We have also focused on using dialogue, ensuring the dialogue enhances the writing by advancing the plot, conveying character or adding tension. Today, we started learning about our next English genre - Playscripts!
Maths -
Our Maths work this week has been centred around angles. This has included classifying angles, measuring angles using a protractor, calculating angles using addition and subtraction, identifying vertically opposite angles, calculating angles in a triangle and solving a variety of missing angle questions. We will be learning about angles in quadrilaterals and other polygons next week.
Geography -
In Geography this week, we have been comparing Canada and the UK. We looked at various similarities and differences between the UK and Canada, including landmarks, physical features, climate, size, population and more. The children presented their ideas as either a double-page spread or in a venn diagram. Some children even compared a UK city to a Canadian city!
Homework -
Children have been given a sheet of English and Maths homework this week which relates to our learning in school. This homework is due in school on Monday 31st March. We also ask that they practise their spellings and times tables, and read at home as much as possible.
