It has been so lovely to welcome the children back this week and we have not wasted any time getting stuck in to our work! Our week has involved haikus, switches and shops!
This week we have been writing Haiku poems. We discussed the origins of the Haiku and identified its features. The children then planned and wrote their own Haiku poems with the theme of Spring. The poems they have written are incredible and they have presented them beautifully!
This week, we have continued our work on Money. This has involved ordering and comparing money, estimating money, adding money and subtracting money. Today, we started to understand how to give change. Children have created their own ‘shop’ with different items which can be bought. On Tuesday, children will role play buying the items and have to work out how much change to give!
We have continued our work on electricity this week. At the start of the week, we discussed switches and why they are needed. We then created our own switch and tested the switch in a variety of electrical circuits. Towards the end of the week we have been discussing the difference between electrical conductors and insulators. Today, we planned an investigation which we look forward to carrying out next week!
Children have been given some English homework today which relates to the learning we have been doing in school. The task has been explained in class, but if you have any questions about this, please do get in touch. This piece of homework is due on Friday 6th May. Children should practice their spellings and times tables and read at home alongside this.
