WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

Week beginning 27.06.22

Our Learning

What a fantastic week we have had! It has involved shapes, outdoor learning and dramatic performances! The children received their Multiplication Tables Check results earlier this week and I am so so proud of each and every one of them – Well done Seals, you are all awesome!

English –

This week we have started our new and final unit of work in English, which is playscripts. This week the children have read, rehearsed and performed an existing playscript. They have worked well in groups, practicing and getting themselves performance ready. On Thursday, each group performed their playscript to the rest of the class and they were all fantastic! Today, we identified the features of a playscript ready to plan and write our own over the next couple of weeks!

Maths –

This week, we have continued our Geometry work which has included learning about triangles, quadrilaterals and symmetry. Next week, we will move on to position and direction.

Science –

This week, we have continued our investigation into evaporation. We have monitored the water levels in 3 different containers every day for the last two weeks and have presented our findings using a line graph. Using our line graph, we were able to analyse our results and write a final conclusion for our investigation. We have also started our new Science unit this week which is ‘Living things and their habitats’.

Homework –

Children have been given some Maths homework today which recaps the written methods we have used for each of the four operations. The task has been explained in class, but if you have any questions about this, please do get in touch. This piece of homework is due on Friday 8th July. Children should practice their spellings and read at home alongside this.

School trip:

On Tuesday (5th July), we have our school trip to Carsington Water. Children will need a packed lunch and water bottle for the day. Due to the nature of the activities we will doing, children can wear non-uniform but please ensure it is suitable for the weather and outdoor activities. We kindly ask children to wear their school jumper/cardigan over their normal clothes. We encourage children to bring sun cream and a cap in the case of nice weather. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. We look forward to the day!

Have a lovely weekend,

The Seals Team
