WE RESPECT, WE TAKE PRIDE, WE SUCCEED

Week beginning 30.01.23

Our Learning

We have had a great week in Seals class. It has involved headlines, eruptions and perimeter!

English –

The children’s fantasy stories are now proudly displayed on our writing wall and they look fabulous! This week, we started our new unit of work which so far has involved exploring newspapers reports, reading and clarifying our model text and identifying structural features of newspaper reports.

Maths –

We have now moved on to length and perimeter in Maths. This week it has involved measuring in km and m, finding equivalent lengths, using a grid to calculate perimeter and finding the perimeter of rectangles. Our length and perimeter work will continue next week.

Geography –

Our focus this week in Geography has been volcanoes. At the beginning of the week we discussed what a volcano is, how they are formed and explored the features of a volcano. Today, we learnt about volcanic eruptions, understanding the causes and effects of a volcanic eruption!

Homework –

Children have been given some Maths homework this week. The task has been explained in class, but if you have any questions about this, please do get in touch. This piece of homework is due on Monday 6th February 2023. Children should practice their spellings and times tables and read at home alongside this.
