We have had a very busy first full week at school this week. We started the week with a very rainy trip to Moira Furnace on Monday. We found out lots of interesting facts about the furnace and the canal. It was a great starting point for our first topic.
In Maths we have been reading, writing, ordering and comparing numbers up to 10,000. We found the regrouping and exchanging of numbers a bit tricky so we spent a bit of time remembering how to make the numbers on the place value grid and reminding ourselves what to do when we have a group of 10 in 1 column. We have also looked at Roman Numerals up to 1000 (M) and rounding numbers to 10, 100 and 1000.
Back at school, in topic, we have written a Trip Advisor review of our experience at Moira Furnace. We thought carefully about what we enjoyed, what we would recommend to others and even what they could do to make it even better.
I am looking forward to seeing you all at our meet the teacher presentation on Wednesday 18th September. If you cannot make the presentation then I will upload the PowerPoint to our class page.
Have a lovely weekend,
