In Maths this week we have finished our unit on multiplication and division. We used our reasoning skills to explain how to divide by 10, 100 and 1000. We also used our knowledge of multiples of 10 to answer more tricky questions. We looked at how we could develop our mental strategies and use known calculations to help us. We have now started our next unit in Maths, which is perimeter and area. So far we have been measuring and calculating the perimeter of shapes.
In English we have watched a day in the life video of a child factory worker. We used this to inspire us to plan our hot write diary entries. We have started to write these on Friday.
In Science we have finished off our learning on forces. We have looked at levers, pulleys and gears. We have now moved back to topic where we have recapped what we know so far about the Industrial Revolution. We have also started to find out a bit more about the roles of children at this time in History. We looked at some sources with differing opinions about the pauper apprentices. We noticed that all of the positive ones were by the factory owners!
