We have had a very busy first week back at school this week. In Maths, we have been working on multiplication and division. We started with multiplying 4 digit numbers by 1 digit numbers using both arrays and also the formal method. We were pretty good at this so we have now moved on to look at multiplying by 2 digits. We had a practical lesson where we used the dienes to make the area model. This allowed us to look at the different steps involved in multiplying by 2 digits and the size and scale of it too. We then moved on to look at the grid method which we use place value counters to complete. from this, we were able to spot lots of similarities.
In English, we have started our new topic on newspaper reports. We have written cold writes, learnt our model text and we have picked out the key features that we will have a go at including in our writing. We have also started to look at the differences between direct and reported speech and we have had a go at converting between the two.
In topic, we have just been looking at what we are going to be learning about over the next term. We have now completed our title pages and we have thought of questions that we would like to find out the answers to over the next term.
