The Hedgehogs have been working really hard, and we have had a fantastic week!
In our English learning, we have started our new genre, Instructions. We started the week by discussing what instructions are and we wrote a set of instructions to make a jam sandwich. We then have been learning a set of instructions to build a Hedgehog house. On Wednesday and Thursday, we followed these instructions and we built our Hedgehog houses in the forest school. We checked on them on Friday and they were still intact! Photos of the Hedgehog homes can be found at the bottom of this page, we had so much fun! Next week, we will be looking at features of a Hedgehog home and we will be learning how to change the instructions slightly.
In our Maths learning, we have started our new unit, Place Value to 50. We first started by playing counting games to 50 - we even did a hard challenge where we had to find missing numbers on a number square. Then we started to represent numbers from 20-50 in different ways, using ten frames, using dienes and using numicons. Next week, we will look at tens and ones of 2 digit numbers.
In our Topic learning this week, we have started to look at animals of Australia. We looked at what Australian animals are herbivores, carnivores and omnivores by using pictures as clues to identify which category each animal belonged too. We then focused on the anatomy of a koala and how they are adapted to life in the Australian Rainforest. Next week, we will be looking at the Australian Rainforest and we will be looking at the recent fires that have happened in Australia.
What a fantastic week Hedgehogs. We are very proud of their attitude to their learning and how they have enjoyed this week.
