Weekly Update - WC 18th November

Another great week for the Hedgehogs, they are working really hard in the Christmas production and we are really proud of them. Keep it up!

In Maths this week, we have finished our unit on addition and subtraction up to 10. We have finished off this unit by finding fact families of number bonds. This is where you can find 8 facts from 1 picture problem, e.g. 5 + 3 = 8 and 3 + 5 = 8). This was quite tricky because we then looked at some challenging subtraction problems but we got the hang of them!

In English this week, we have started our new T4W topic, Senses Poem. First, the children wrote a COLD WRITE and had to write a popular nursery rhyme that there were familiar with. Throughout the rest of this week, we have been learning a senses poem called "My Five Senses". It is a lovely poem and we have been using the Mighty Writer story map to help us remember the poem. The children chose their own images for the poem. If you wish to come and have a look, just pop your head round!

In Topic this week, we have almost finished our senses work! This week we looked at our final sense, taste. The children experimented using their sense of taste by trying out different foods and determining whether the food they tasted was bitter, sour, sweet or salty. The foods they tasted were chocolate, lemon, sugar, salt, grapefruit and even gherkin (I know, I am horrible!).

Thank you to all the parents that came to Parents Evening. It was lovely to see you all. If you do have any concerns about your child, please do not hesitate to come and see me. I am normally free after school, so if you wish to make an after school appointment, then we can arrange one.

Another great week, well done Hedgehogs!
