3 weeks until the end of the term and we can celebrate Christmas! The Hedgehogs have worked really hard this week, especially with their production. We have started to practise on the stage in the hall in preparation for our performances at the Repton 400 Hall.
In Maths this week, we have started our new unit on shapes. We have looked at 2D shapes and we made the four 2D shapes (circle, square, rectangle and triangle) out of spaghetti so the children had an understanding of sides and vertices. For 3D shapes, we went on a treasure hunt in school to find different 3D objects and match them to the correct 3D shapes. The children tore the classroom up to find different shapes!
In English this week, we have continued our work on the poem of "My Five Senses". We have learnt the text and we have now innovated the text by changing certain words in the text.
In Topic this week, we took a big step in time and looked again at the Victorians, but we looked at why 200 years ago, it was called the Victorian Age. We discussed who Queen Victoria was and learnt snippets about her life.
Quick message about the Christmas production
As you know, we will be performing our Christmas production at the Repton 400 Hall on Tuesday 10th and Thursday 12th December. We will also be performing a dress rehearsal on Thursday 5th and Friday 6th December at the Repton 400 Hall.
We are looking for parent volunteers who can walk with us to and from the Repton 400 Hall on the dates above. On those dates, we will be leaving school at 1pm with the aim to leave Repton 400 Hall at 2:45pm. If you are walking with us on the dress rehearsal dates, you are welcome to stay and watch the children rehearse.
If you are available and would like to volunteer to walk with us, please get in contact with a member of the KS1 team by Monday 2nd December.
