This week we have been really busy in the Hedgehogs.
In Maths we have been starting our new unit; Addition and Subtraction. We have begun this unit by looking at the part-whole model. We have done lots of practical and fun activities to help us with our learning - we have created hoops and ladders to represent the part-whole model. We then created part whole models by doing chalk circles on the playground - it looks like aliens have invaded the playground with the number of white circles all across the floor! We have just about to grasp that two parts make a whole - and we have been able to draw and do some good number work to show how two parts can add to make a whole.
In English, we have started to box up the non chronological report of the Human body. We are learning about the structure of non-Chronological reports and talked about the layout and structure of the report. We then have innovated the report by changing the human body report to become a Gruffalo body report! Next week, we will be creating our own non-Chronological reports.
In Topic, we have been doing lots of work on the Human body, familiarising ourselves with the body parts of the human body by playing "stick the post it note on a child". We then labelled a picture of ourselves. We finally have looked at how we are amazing and different to other animals.
What a great week Hedgehogs, 2 more weeks until half term!
