Weekly update 29.9.23
This week we have completed our diary writing work and started to learn about biographies. We have been using written symbols and drawing along with actions to learn a text about the life of Sir David Attenborough. Next week we will go on to start looking at the features associated with this type of writing.
In maths, we have been having lots of fun learning about Roman numerals by play ing matching games and puzzles. Ask them to look around them at home and when out to see how often they can spot Roman numerals being used. There is often a little anomaly on some clocks. Can you all spot what it is? We have also started to learn about rounding numbers to 10 and 100. We have been doing lots of work on times tables this week. They are so important, particularly as the year 4 children will have a national assessment in the Spring which requires them to recall all times tables up to 12x12 and gives them just 6 seconds per question. Please encourage your children to work on learning these. I have sent some sheets for Y3 to use at home to help them. You do not need to return them.
In topic work, we have been learning about the lives of children in Anglo-Saxon times and we have played ‘Nine Men’s Morris’. You should now all have received details of the trip to Tamworth Castle. We are all very excited about this so please complete details and payments as soon as possible so all details can be finalised.
